We cant wait to welcome you and your child to Reception and begin this exciting journey together. We have lots of fun, exciting learning experiences planned and look forward to watching your child grow in confidence, develop new skills and make lots of wonderful memories along the way!

Our Day In Reception

In Reception or day begins at 8.40am and ends at 3,15pm.

EYFS in Reception

In Reception, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, providing children with a balance of child-led play, adult-guided activities and real-life experiences. Our learning is based around the seven areas of learning, with a strong focus on developing children’s communication, independence, confidence and social skills. Children learn through purposeful play, exploration and hands-on experiences, both indoors and outdoors. We carefully observe the children to understand their interests and next steps, using these to plan engaging learning opportunities. Alongside continuous provision, children take part in daily phonics, early reading, maths, writing and other adult-led activities. We aim to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where every child feels happy, valued and ready to learn, building the strong foundations they need for a successful start to school.

Healthy Eating and School Meals

All Reception children are entitled to a free school meal each day. Alternatively, children may bring a healthy packed lunch from home. We encourage families to provide a balanced lunch with a variety of healthy foods.

In Reception we enjoy snack time as a social part of our day, giving the children the opportunity to enjoy a healthy snack together , chat with their friends and stay hydrated. Drinking water is available in class throughout the day, however it would be very helpful if your child come bring a named bottle of water into school esach day. Water only please – no juice or flavoured drinks.

Supporting SEND in Reception

We recognise that every child is unique and develops at their own pace. In Reception, we provide a nurturing, inclusive environment where children with SEND are supported to access and enjoy all aspects of learning. We adapt activities, resources and our teaching to meet individual needs and work closely with our families, school SEN team and other professionals where appropriate. We carefully monitor each child’s progress and celebrate their individual strengths, achievements and next steps. If you have any concerns about your child’s learning, development, communication, behaviour or wellbeing please speak to a member of the Reception team. We are always happy to listen, work together with you and discuss how we can support your child.
