Community Garden: Growing Together

At The Grange Primary and Nursery School, we believe learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door—and our thriving Community Garden is living proof of that.
Nestled at the heart of our school grounds, the garden is more than just a green space. It’s a living, breathing classroom where children, families, staff, and the wider community come together to nurture both plants and people. From sowing seeds to harvesting vegetables, our pupils gain hands-on experience in sustainability, teamwork, and responsibility—while watching their efforts quite literally grow.

Developed with input from staff and families, the garden is part of our commitment to outdoor learning and wellbeing. Each year group takes an active role in its upkeep, using the space to link curriculum topics with real-world outcomes. From science lessons on pollination to literacy sessions inspired by nature, the garden is woven into daily school life.

Beyond school hours, the garden serves as a community hub. Parents volunteer to help with maintenance, and we regularly host monthly gardening events focused on healthy living and environmental awareness.

The Community Garden reflects our school values in action—collaboration, respect for nature, and pride in our place. It’s a space where roots run deep, both in the soil and in our school community.
